Halloween Adventures

What a great Halloween! The weather was great; it sprinkled slightly, but it wasn't too cold. The girls didn't even need coats, even though Lilia's costume included a coat. She was very hot and red by the end of the night. She wanted to go as a weather girl. Lissy was Cinderella. And Nohea went as Bjork wearing the dead duck outfit to the Grammy's (or was it swan?). See proof below.

There were some really great costumes showing up at the door tonight--customers, as Lissy called them. Here are two cute customers: James (Frankenstein) and Bennett (tractor) Horne. Lindsay actually made both the costumes. They were precious.

Kulani took the kids around to the houses this year. We had homemade pizza for dinner. Here's a picture of our jack-o-lantern pizza.

The girls got all kinds of candy, even a coveted FSCB (full-size candy bar) that I only dreamed about but never actually possessed when I was a youngster. I forced the kids out of trick-or-treat retirement when I realized we forgot about the Greenwoods fame toothbrushes (the neighborhood dentist). They delivered in fine form, even giving me an adult-sized toothbrush.

At least this part of Oregon is good for the FSCB's. Our boys got quite a few. When I was growing up there were plenty of years where I never got any.

I've been giving the coveted full size candy bars out for a couple of years now and I still have left overs by the end of the night. This year I even made cute little crafty wrappers to go around them. Next year I might have to advertise the FSCB on the outside of my house or something! And just because I know you were turned down once for looking like you were too old, Cindy, I gave them to even the oldest trick or treaters! What do I have to do? Advertise in the newspaper to get trick or treaters to come to my house? Okay, that's a little creepy!

Kulani and I remember that in our neighborhoods growing up, we hardly got any candybars at all. We mostly got suckers, those orange and black peanut butter-type taffy, taffy, and smarties.

Angela, do you guys live in the country? We didn't get that many trick-or-treaters either, so I'm thinking I might give out bigger candybars next year.

My kids not only got full-size candy bars, they also got the giant-size candy bars from one house. Yep; 4 Reeses Peanut Butter Cups in one nice big package. Gotta love it.

I don't know if you remember Cindy, but the best Halloween haul we ever had as kids was the Halloween we spent at Uncle Fred's house (before Grandma lived in Utah). His neighborhood rocked and you could hit so many houses so fast compared to the Heyburn trek. I think that is the Halloween I remember the most. Of course, I don't remember my costume, just the good stuff -- the candy!

It's the hills where you live -- who wants to trek up those things if you don't live next door? We live in a cul-de-sac so also only got a few. No full-size candy bars from me, but everyone got at least 4 snack size ones.

Oh yeah, one other thing I remember from Halloween was always trying to convince the little kids (i.e. you) to trade us by convincing you that those little taffies were actually the best candy while the little candy bars really were terrible. Either that or we stole them from you. Worked both ways.

You guys are great friends. Thanks for stopping by. I know it meant a lot to J. It's nice to know...

Your girls look so cute in their costumes! I hope you got a ton of candy. Cohen ate his in one night and Livvy doesn't eat it so it's just sitting there. We will have you over soon.
P.S. I love reading your blog. You have a true talent I only wish I could have a tiny part of your amazing way to write.
